Using airy vocals similar to Deer Leap's vocalist and the two aforementioned bands approach to post rock without too many climaxes accompanied by melancholic piano, Homesick for Space deliver an album on par with their contemporaries and bands in the future of similar style.

Lluvia - Premonicion de guerra (2013)

Previously known as The Rain In Endless Fall, after a couple of great but highly limited demo tapes under their previous name Lluvia unleash upon us their full length debut.  A great atmospheric black metal album that is described by Lord Vast as anti-cascadian black metal, beautiful field recordings of storms and rainfall separate each track before flying into full throttle blast beats and vocals that could peel paint.  Textural twists and turns with rhythmic changes keep things from feeling monotonous, whilst the overall atmosphere creates a density that you can't help but become lost in.  One of the best atmospheric black metal releases in recent memory.

The two brothers of Say Anything prove that Max Bemis isn't the only one capable of crafting a fantastic album though they never quite reach his peak. At least this is better than Bemis' recent work in terms of quality. Don't go into this expecting a Say Anything clone because it's something completely different. What is given here is a lo-fi, surf rock shoegaze (surfgaze perhaps?) album with the more dream pop aspects of shoegaze. It kind of sounds like a really comfy day at the beach with a special someone.

With the final installment of Jon Chang's illustrious career pretty much ringing in my ears almost constantly since release day (i'm obviously talking about Gridlinks third and final album Longhena), i've been dipping back into other installments of mr Chang's work that also adorn my collection.  This the second of the two ep's released by Hayaino Daisuki is creeping back into heavy rotation also, 4 tracks over 13 minutes if hyper speed thrash grind with a melodic edge that can't help but put a massive shit eating grin on your face.  As fun as it is fast and chaotic, great stuff.

Ghastly City Sleep - Ghastly City Sleep (2007)

Ghastly City Sleep is basically a supergroup made up of members from City of Caterpillar, Majority Rule, and Gregor Samsa. Plenty is Godspeed You! Black Emperor worship can still be found here thanks to the members of CoC. Think all the post rock parts of City of Caterpillar except they sound prettier and they have dream pop vocals instead of screams and you got this album. This also features Mia Matsumiya playing violin and doing vocals on the first track so that song is at least worth listening to.
